For the puppy selection question, I'm surprised you didn't saw that if you are going to a quality breeder, they should be picking the puppy for you, unless you have more experience with K9 behavior than they do.

If someone is doing their proper homework and talking with high quality breeders of actively working Mals, they as well as the breeder will know that not all Mals are the same. A High drive, mentally and neurologically stable Mal that comes from a breeder that completes at the highest levels (or trains quality PPD's) is not going the be the same Mal that will be happy with making just to PSA/French ring 1 and living an active lifestyle. If you honestly communicate your goals and intentions for the dog to the breeder, a good breeder will select the right puppy for you or may not even sell you one of their puppies because you are not a good match.

The little nuances with a Mali make the difference. Like their love of pushing, and how lifting them off creates the drive for it. So helpful! Thanks

What is command for comming between legs in french?

I’m told over and over the malinois isn’t a good dog for a service animal. I’m a behavior analyst and have worked on a lot miter basis for other challenging dogs and have owned a rescue with now skill sets to a good level of responding to verbal and gestural prompts using both positive/negative reinforcement and positive/ negative punishment. What are your thoughts with respect to service dog work? (Sleep disruption/anxiety) I’m an active retired and older adult.

When can you have your dog out without a lease and not be afraid they will run away or bite someone.

This is an awesome video. I only wish I had known this information before my Belgium Malinois hurt her hips, jumping for a tennis ball. I will never make that mistake again. I hope everyone takes this advice and keeps their K9 healthy.

You can teach ANY domesticated dog to NOT have food aggression by petting them and touch them while they eat when they are pups and they will not be bothered by the touching while eating

Andy - that's right. It only takes one time. you make good sense. I'll tell you a worse crime. Getting Malinois male and female to breed and you let them be a couch potato. I saw two at the vets the other day and you could see in their eyes, they were bored out of their minds. They couldn't be still and yet were made to. They cowered around their owner. The female was about a year and the male about 2 1/2 He was beautiful. He was large. I think they are amazing dogs but they are working dogs and the light just goes out in their eyes when they are forced to do nothing,.

Two years late to the party 😔 46 years with GSD's and 25 yrs with English Springer Spaniels (and a few rescue x breeds) I started this about a year in with my very first dog. For the dogs health and safety and as additional training time. I know GSD's who have suffered stomach torsions from twisting violently to grab a high bouncing ball whilst running at full throttle. I have witnessed one Springer spaniel impale themselves in the chest whilst trying to grab a thrown stick as it bounced end to end, and another knock out an incisor and cinine whilst trying to scoop up a moving ball on hard gravely ground. Not to mention broken and ripped claws on dogs that are skidding to a halt. So glad that you use your profile to bring this to the attention of those who don't know. All my dogs are my fur kids, as their daddy handler I am responsible for their health and safety, it is for me to keep them safe from dangers they don't comprehend.

This seems contradictory to the videos you've put out about doing 5-10 minute training/play sessions with your dog. A low or medium drive Mal is going to be different that a high drive too. It's the same with all serious working breeds.
